About this video: The best way to play modded Minecraft is with your friends, and this video shows you exactly how to make a Minecraft server with mods to start doing exactly that. We cover everything from creating and exporting the modpack to setting up the server to getting your friends online, so let's get started!

First things first, we will want to create our mod set in the CurseForge App. There is a link in the description above to our complete guide on getting CurseForge if you do not have it yet. With the app open, create a new profile and select the Fabric mod loader for Minecraft 26.2.

From there, click on it, and you can browse and add any mods you want to your server. We recommend Fabric here as it is one of the most popular and well supported mod loaders.

Once you have all the mods you want, you will want to export your modpack as a .zip file. In the CurseForge App, click the three dots on your profile and select the option to export it. Your friends can then import this exact modpack into their own CurseForge App. They’ll need to join the server with this profile.

With the mods ready, the next step is to download Fabric and make the server. There is a link in the description above to download the Fabric Installer. Create a new "Modded Minecraft Server 26.2" folder on your desktop, then open the Fabric Installer.

Click on the "Server" tab at the top, click the three dots next to "Launcher Location" and select the folder you just made. Click "Install", and once the files download, click "Download Server Jar" and "Generate".

Open your server folder and double-click the start.bat file. Your server will attempt to start but will fail the first time. This creates an eula.txt file. Open it, and change "eula=false" to "eula=true". Save the file, and double-click start.bat again. Your modded Fabric server will now start.

Next, you will want to add your mods to the server. In the server folder and you will find a "mods" folder. Right-click on your mod profile in CurseForge and select “Open Folder”. There will be a mods folder. Here open this and copy all the mods in it. Paste these in the mods folder on your server. Just like that, they are installed. Make sure to stop your server and start it again for the mods to be active.

Finally, in order for your friends to join, you will need to port forward the port 25565 on both the TCP and UDP protocols. There is a link in the description above to our complete port forwarding guide. Once that is done, your friends can join using your public IP, and you will be play modded Minecraft together on your server.
