Gaza’s Children in Crisis—UNICEF Issues Urgent Plea

UNICEF: Over 17,000 Children Killed and 33,000 Injured in Gaza Since Start of War

UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell reported to the UN Security Council that more than 17,000 children have been killed and 33,000 injured in Gaza during 21 months of conflict, averaging 28 child deaths daily. Russell described catastrophic conditions facing one million children in Gaza, including severe malnutrition, lack of clean water, and overwhelmed hospitals. She called for safe and sustained humanitarian access, increased fuel supplies, medical evacuations, and adherence to international law on the protection of children. Russell urged all parties to the conflict to immediately protect civilians, ensure aid delivery, and agree to a ceasefire, warning that history will judge the world harshly for failing Gaza’s children.
