Behind the scenes highlight video for Letters to the Earth of ‘End of the F**king World’ star Alex Lawther rehearsing reading letter written by the son of award-winning playwright Simon Stephens, where he addresses his father about the climate and ecological emergency

More than 50 theatres, arts venues and community spaces across the world, including the Liverpool Everyman, Bath’s Walcot Chapel, Aberdeen Performing Arts in the UK, to venues in Zambia and Canada, Latvia and New Zealand, will host readings of the Letters to the Earth as part of a day of action on Friday 12 April

An astounding 1,000 Letters were received from the public as part of the call to respond to the climate and ecological crisis

Other letters received include from American author Rebecca Solnit, award-winning poet Kate Tempest, British playwrights April De Angelis, Steve Waters and Nick Drake amongst others

Letters to the Earth is the first project of the newly launched Culture Declares Emergency, which brings the arts and cultural community together for an appropriate response to the climate emergency
Day of action coincides with the Global Youth Strike for Climate, and is part of the lead up to Extinction Rebellion’s International Rebellion which begins Monday 15 April
