Happy first birthday Azura! I am so blessed to be your mommy. You and I are both so blessed to have survived this past year. We are blessed we made it through all of our pre-term labor scares and extra hospital visits before you were born. We are blessed we both survived Covid-19 when I was nine months pregnant with you. We are so blessed that the midwife was able to stop you from bleeding when your cord snapped after delivery and you survived despite losing all that blood. I’m so blessed to have caught the blood clot, the kind that 1 in 9 people die from, after you were born. We are blessed we were able to go back into the hospital together when you were 3 days old despite Covid hospital “guest” restrictions, so I could be treated for my clot and continue to nurse and bond with you. We are so blessed for the help from family who took care of you during my daily visits to the clinic for two months postpartum due to the blood clot and other complications. I am so blessed to have access to healthcare and could be treated with blood thinners for 10 months (and feel even more blessed to finally be off them). We are blessed we were able to diagnose and are working through your rare allergy. We are blessed I made it through shingles while nursing without spreading chickenpox to you.

We survived and we are blessed.

This past year has taught me that
1. If you you don’t have your health then you don’t have anything.
2. Life is all about the people in it.
3. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

So from here on out I want to celebrate everyday and document all my people, my friends, my family and especially my girls. I don’t want to miss or forget any of the good times. I want to leave behind plenty of evidence of my love for my people. I want to celebrate everyday because you never know when will be your last.

So cheers to you Azura on surviving and thriving your first year earth side!! You are my teacher, my baby and my angel on earth. I love you so incredibly much! Now let’s get to celebrating!!! 🥳🎉💋📸
