Women in Iran – the vlogger’s perspective (Documentary)
Compulsory headscarf and limited rights, that’s what we link with women in Iran. But the country is experiencing a change – through the women. Three perspectives show the loud and the silent fight for freedom from inside and outside the country.
Three women and the Iran
Lili travelled to the Middle East to check if the prejudice about Iran is right and to experience how the women live there. As a non-muslim tourist, she is also forced to wear a hijab . With mixed feelings Lili talks about her experiences: She is only allowed to sit in the back of the bus, she should not enter some tea houses and in the mosque she has to fully cover her up – in contrast to the men. But many Iranian people she met told her that they are not happy with their government. Lili’s channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdFG_VfsQy1hpBquNy6WfQQ
Mahsa just does what she likes to do. Even if she is confronted by police very often. As a young female parkour runner she disobeys the Iranian morality laws – sport is for men. That’s why she films herself doing tricks and training and publishes it on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mahsarezaie_/. Other young Iranian women and girls should know that they are at least as strong and sportive like men.
“Men in hijab” – with this campaign Masih got international fame. She fights against the oppression of women in Iran for a long time already. But since 2009 she lives in exile – currently in New York City in the United States, because back in Iran she could not be a critical journalist or political activist. She was arrested in her country of origin several times, once she was pregnant when she sat in jail. In the documentary Masih talks about her childhood in Iran and her campaign “My Stealthy Freedom” which encourages women to take off their hijabs and fight for their rights: https://www.facebook.com/StealthyFreedom/
