My Windows 10 Update (CU1709-12 Build 16229.125) Problems on Microsoft Surface Pro 4

Hello Friends! I've had some problems with the recent windows update. Man- it has cramped my productivity big time. Watch now for the full story.

TLDR: two weeks of failed updates and boot looping (more like update looping) and I just decided to wipe the damn thing and install fresh. only problem- that didn't fix anything. I wanted up having to manually install the updates and then wait to see if the system would get back to normal. good news is it did. bad news is it took two weeks of messing around to (finally?) fix the issues.

better bews- I had my MacBook Pro ready to go. I haven't used it for any real work since 2015, but the thing just picked up and ran. it's been managing it's own updates and file syncing for two years with no problem... go figure.

Still love the Surface, though.
