Waste Sorting Assistant Using AI | Student Project in AI + Environment

This project was created by a high school student as part of the 8-week AI Certification Program at BetterMind Labs. Growing up, he was deeply concerned about the impact of improper waste disposal and pollution in his city. Whether it was seeing overflowing bins or watching recyclable materials go to waste, he knew there had to be a smarter way to manage everyday trash.

Determined to make a difference, he joined our program to combine his interest in environmental sustainability with AI. With the help of our mentors, he built a Waste Sorting Assistant, an intelligent tool that uses computer vision to identify and categorize waste into recyclables, compost, and landfill. The project aims to support more efficient recycling habits and promote environmental responsibility.
