In their self-absorption, narcissists feel a strong need to be right when there is any dispute or difference. Empathy is out, dogmatic thinking rules. Dr. Les Carter describes how it is necessary to develop beliefs of right and wrong, but he also explains the need to incorporate nuance and openness. Narcissists are so stunted in the maturation process, though, that they use pre-adolescent thinking, and the net result is that they are often wrong as they seek to appear right.
