Finally, The Philippines prefers Israeli-made tanks over Indonesian-Turkish tanks!
Once a favorite, the Tiger Tank made by PT. Pindad was ultimately not selected in the Philippine Army's light tank procurement program. Manila's choice finally fell on the Israeli Elbit System Sabrah light tank.
Quoted from MaxDefense Philippines, the Philippines Army will acquire the Sabrah Tank with two variants, namely the Chain Wheel and Tire Wheel versions.
The Sabrah light tank series is armed with a 105 mm turret. The tracked variant uses ASCOD as the platform, while the tire-wheeled variant uses the Pandur II platform.
The Sabra, from the Hebrew word for prickly pear is an M60 Patton tank developed extensively by Israel Military Industries. The MK II version of this upgrade package has been used in the Turkish Army. Sabra is known as M60T in the Turkish military.
