🥋 Mr. K uses his entire body to generate power in each movement. He enhances force through penetration, settling (gravitational marriage), rotation, launching 🚀, angles, orbits, and precise mechanics like a small circular whip of the elbow. There’s a lot of science behind it—way more than just swinging your arms.
🙄 This is a workshop and demonstration of movement. Intent in a real altercation is completely different. For example, IRL, the goal would be to blast 🚀 through the knee with forward penetration. But even moving fast, Mr. K stops short and reminds everyone, “Watch that leg.” Because control is necessary when practicing with a partner.
This particular sequence is a response to an opponent’s right hand 🤛🏽. It teaches you to shift off the centerline, use forward momentum with a roundhouse to their liver/rib (because, yes, a liver shot can drop someone), follow up with a chop that flows into an elbow strike, and blast 💥 through their knee.
That “rebound” 🏀 sound? It’s a quick recoil off your own body—or the opponent’s—to increase speed and generate even more power 💥. Most people have never been taught how to use motion like this to sophisticate a strike.
🙄 Yeah, you could just aim for the face, but what if that doesn’t work? Isn’t it better to have multiple defensive options?
🥋 Kenpo is a self-defense system designed to handle the unexpected. And based on some of the comments we see, it’s clear that not everyone understands real self-defense. There is no ref to ”break” in the streets.
