Dynamax Regirock just dropped into Max Battles for Max Monday on April 20… and honestly, this one felt rough for free-to-play players.

We went in with a full team of 4 and gave it two solid attempts—but got completely wiped. Even tanky picks like Blissey were getting destroyed by Focus Blast, and it didn’t feel close. The only successful clears I’m seeing are from players using Max Mushrooms to boost their damage, which raises a big question about how balanced these Max Battles really are.

As someone pushing to become the world’s first Level 80 free-to-play player in Pokémon GO, I’m not spending on temporary boosts—so I made the call to skip Dynamax Regirock entirely. And if this is how these battles are tuned going forward, Dynamax Registeel might be another skip too.

Was this event overtuned… or is it actually pay-to-win?
