Friday morning tropical weather update: 2 areas to watch; 46 days left in 2020 Hurricane Season

A large area of low pressure is located several hundred miles ESE of Bermuda. Some slow development is possible next week as it passes between Bermuda and the Lesser Antilles. Forecast models show this becoming a tropical system, but it will remain out in the Atlantic. NHC is giving this system a low chance to develop.

Another large area of low pressure is expected to develop early next week over the SW Caribbean. Right now, there is nothing there, but the forecast models have been consistent with showing a storm developing there and then drifting north toward Cuba. Once it crosses Cuba it is expected to move north over the Bahamas and stay just off the east coast of Florida. Then quickly move north in the Atlantic. NHC is giving this system a low chance to develop. It is not expected to be a threat to the Gulf, but we will keep an eye on it.
