Apogee Instruments SP-230 Pyranometer Time Lapse-Heated Pyranometer

Watch a time lapse video of Apogee Instruments' SP-230 Heated (All-season) Silicon-cell Pyranometer. The low power 0.2 W heater is able to keep rain, frost, dew, and snow off the sensor minimizing errors found when the optical path is blocked. The SP-230 is a silicon-cell pyranometer used to measure incoming shortwave radiation. The sensor is used in various agricultural, ecological, and hydrological weather networks. Sensors are also used to monitor photovoltaic systems. Notably, the SP-230 is chosen by Google to monitor PV panels on Project Loon.
