Heat Shock Transformation with DH10B Chemically Competent E. coli Cells
Learn how to perform a Heat Shock Transformation using GoldBio’s DH10B Chemically Competent Cells.
Heat Shock Transformation (HST) is a basic molecular biology technique that allows a researcher to insert plasmid DNA into treated E. coli cells. Chemically competent cells are cells that have been treated with a salt (often CaCl2 or MgCl2). When these cells are rapidly heated and cooled, the cell membrane becomes permeable, allowing the plasmid DNA to enter the competent cells and to be further replicated.
