The Acacia Strain's Tom Smith Interview on Gear Guidance
On this weeks episode of Gear Guidance Drew had a chat with Guitarist Tom Smith from The Acacia Strain about topics such as:
Give everyone a little background on your music career.
Where you started with gear (your first set up) to when started learning more about what you were using
We first met at Will Putneys studio when you were apprenticing. How was that experience and much gear knowledge do you think you gain from that endeavor?
In our early conversations, we both were big tube amp guys, but now that you have a few international and national tours under you belt with The Acacia Strain, how has your taste in gear changed (if it has)?
Favorite Kemper profile?
Some people may not know but your Dad is the mastermind behind TS Guitars. You have been playing his guitars for as long as Ive known you. What do you like best about his guitars and what sets them apart from other boutique guitars?
Last small segment is called “Use, Abuse, Trash”. This is essentially “Fuck, Marry, Kill” but for gear. Ill give you three pieces of gear and you have to choose between Use (meaning you can keep that gear forever in perfect condition), Abuse (meaning you can keep this gear, but its going to get abused mercilessly) or Trash (gets thrown away and you can never use it again). These will just be fun, rapid fire questions as an entertaining outro.
◦ Gibson, Fender, Dean
◦ Vox, EVH, Orange
◦ Kemper, AxeFX, Helix
◦ Angus Young’s SG, SRVs Strat, or Dimebag Darrells “From Hell” ML
