The Rodenkirchen Parade at Cologne is a typical neighbourhood parade of Cologne Carnival. Its an event far away from the commercial carnival usually seen on television and glossy brochures. The more than 1000-year-old suburb once lived from fishing, agriculture and viticulture. Thanks to its beautiful location on the Rhine River, the "little village" has become a popular place for excursions and a preferred place of residence for wealthy residents of Cologne over the years. Carnival has been an integral part of this popular district of Cologne for 200 years now. In summer, the waterfront promenade with its pubs and restaurants is a popular destination for the people of Cologne.
