E-Image GH03 fluid head slow pan test, macro magnification 5X. Poecilotheria subfusca exuvia.

This is a test pan using my new fluid video head, displaying the carapace of the molted skin from an adult Poecilotheria subfusca tarantula.

High-magnification macro video is extremely demanding of smooth motion in the video head. This head has proven to be exceptional overall, incredible for its price. Pans "feather in" beautifully, it's virtually impossible to tell when they begin. And there's barely any rebound at a pan's end, the image stays almost precisely where it was as the hands are removed from the head. The few tiny vibrations are the effect of occasional late-night traffic in front of my apartment building.

Macros inherently have a very thin depth of field, which gets exponentially worse the higher one goes from 1:1 -- at a magnification of 1X, f/16 to f/22 typically gives satisfactory DOF, but at the 5X of this video even its effective f/42 aperture has very little in focus.

Taken with a Sony a7II and Canon MP-E65mm macro.
