💯IB Results 2025: 31 Hong Kong Students Score Perfect IB Marks Despite Difficult Maths Exam!
✍🏻Over 31 students in Hong Kong score perfect marks in the International Baccalaureate (IB) exams, despite global complaints about a very difficult maths paper!

On Sunday, results of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme 2025 were announced.
More than 2,600 students from Hong Kong appeared for the IB exams this year — a 20% increase over the last five years!
Despite many students around the world saying that the maths exam was too difficult, at least 31 Hong Kong students got a perfect score of 45!

Meet Kristen Lo Man-yi, a 17-year-old student from St Paul’s Co-Educational College.
She scored full marks – 45 out of 45 – and was the only one in her school to do so.

She said:

“I didn’t expect this result at all. The IB is like a marathon. You need continuous hard work and smart preparation.”
She believes making study notes and doing regular revision helped her succeed.

Across the world, students found the IB Maths paper too difficult.
Over 25,000 IB students signed a petition asking to lower grade boundaries for Maths.
Kristen and her school’s IB coordinator, Belinda Ng, believe that IB assessors adjusted the grading due to the paper’s difficulty.
Many students said the questions were much harder than past years, requiring more creative thinking.

Many top IB scorers in Hong Kong came from top schools:

English Schools Foundation (ESF) – 15 top scorers

Victoria Shanghai Academy – 5 top scorers

Diocesan Boys’ School (DBS) – 3 top scorers

Po Leung Kuk Schools – 3 top scorers

Canadian International School, Singapore International School, and Independent Schools Foundation Academy – 1 each

Most top IB students from Hong Kong plan to study medicine, computer science, or AI at world-class universities:

Oxford University

University of Toronto

University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)

University of Hong Kong (HKU)

One top scorer, Nicholas Ko from DBS, said:

“I’m studying maths and computer science at Oxford, but I plan to return to work in Hong Kong.”

Another student, Carlyn Ho, will study molecular biology in the US and dreams of becoming a doctor.
