How the 8 Ball Spindle Works
This video shows the mechanics of the 8-Ball spindle with the addition of the new fly-weight locking mechanism. The fly-weights are designed to push four pins into a locking position against the inserted tool-holder at speeds above 1000 RPM. When the spindle is idle the pins will disengage and allow the tool-holder to be pulled from the spindle. In the future this design will be incorporated into another spindle adaption for small machines that utilize R-8 tooling. Since this operates without air driven pneumatics it will not require any changes to the machine whatsoever.
