Casio ProTrek PRT-40 Clean up and Fixing Broken Lug

Recently found Casio Protrek PRT-40 triple sensor watch on Ebay for £15. Bargain! I though. So I bought it. I was told it has a broken lug and previous owner tried to fix it. Unsuccessfully I must say.

Upon further inspection I came to the conclusion that the protrek watch was worn with nato strap which I now know can do a lot of damage to this type of watch.

Without much planning I came with a barbaric idea on how to fix my new PRT-40. If it's stupid but it works - it ain't stupid. OK?
