Northern Chautauqua Catholic School in Dunkirk is launching an Adopt-a-Student campaign to attract more students and raise funds to help cover tuition. At $4,175 per student, the school aims to generate $225,000. and says the program could support 50 children. Principal Paul Pinto emphasizes that the effort is designed to ease financial strain for families in the only Catholic school serving Northern Chautauqua County. The Buffalo Diocese stopped subsidizing tuition in 2019, intensifying fundraising needs. Alumni are tapped to drive outreach and form cohorts that rally support for the campaign. Despite financial challenges, current enrollment stands at 116 and next year's projections have already reached 101. Visitors to the campus observed a science experiment and an upcoming spring concert, with students praising their school community. Students described NCCS as a big family with friends, positive teachers, and activities beyond public schools, underscoring the campaign’s goal to sustain the school’s mission.
