Man From UNCLE (1964) TV Review - a touch of Batman 1966 & Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
Cesar Romero was a guest! This is not a traditional review of 60s spy series The Man from UNCLE. But rather it is a review that looks at how the series resembles a couple of other smash hit TV shows of the period - Batman & Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
My first contact with the UNCLE series was in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Reruns. I clearly remember watching the edited together "movies" on TV, which were nothing more than two episodes of the 60s series edited together.
Back then, only colour UNCLE got reruns, and I had no knowledge of a deadly serious B&W first season even existing!
I know I liked it but because I was just a High School kid - I simply did not understand a lot of it.
The reruns then vanished. Decades lated, in the 2000s, the UNCLE movies finally returned but now on DVD. Now I could view it as a fully grown adult.
Get Smart (1965) has not stood the test of time so well but UNCLE is still reasonably entertaining today. And the first season episode with Cesar Romero "The Never-Never Affair" is regarded by me as true classic television.
