I wrote steal your girl probably two years ago now, at a time when the undertones of confidence and boldness that make up this song didn’t usually come naturally to my writing, or my life. I felt like wrote it for an alter ego, someone who wasn’t afraid to do and say exactly what they were feeling. And I had the privilege of playing it for audiences all across the country and beyond, and seeing them get hype for it. I didn’t know it at the time, but performing SYG and seeing the unapologetic, alter-ego I’d created through the song, resonate with a real audience, would be a memory that I look back on for inspiration all the time now. Not only that but it would be a catalyst for all of the “sensitive bad bitch” music I would make in the year following. This sassy, over the top story/song helped me learn how to come out of my shell, even just for 3 minutes at a time. I hope it does the same for you guys - BB
