So to answer the question, “Is wood a renewable resource?” The answer is YES. Wood products are actually the greenest building materials you can use thanks to their renewable energy. They can even help combat climate change by storing carbon dioxide and preventing air pollution.

One common misconception is that using this natural resource as a building material promotes deforestation, but that is not the case. With sustainable forestry efforts, loggers ensure a proper ratio of young, middle-aged and older trees to provide proper biodiversity within the forest, ultimately helping vegetation and wildlife thrive. They take down older trees before they release greenhouse gases and replant younger trees in their place.

At Baird Brothers, we utilize wood as a renewable source of energy. The wood energy provided by burning the sawdust and other woody biomass created in our shop actually fuels our entire facility with clean energy.
