MOSCOW VICTORY DAY Parade: Kremlin Cancels Military Displays on 9 May, Peskov Cites Terror Threats

The Kremlin has announced that Moscow’s 9 May Victory Day parade will be held in a reduced format due to what officials described as “terrorist threats” and the current security situation. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said military equipment will not be displayed and cadets will not participate in this year’s event, which also coincides with a non-anniversary year. Similar restrictions will apply to the parade in St Petersburg, where attendance has been significantly reduced following a security review. Russian officials said the decision was taken after consultations with security agencies amid heightened tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Ukraine.
