No Extractor Needed!!! Surprise First Honey Harvest

Hit subscribe... We will be doing more videos...

Our first honey harvest and this was a surprise.
We harvested this honey from 3-4 deep langstroth frames with plastic foundation. This was unexpected so we weren't ready with a honey extractor or anything. Lol. We scraped the foundation with a spatula into a food grade bucket from Walmart and then strained the wax out. Next we filtered it through a double honey sieve from Dadant, then poured the honey into mason jars. It would have been a lot easier with a bucket that had a honey gate. We had a weak hive that was 2 deep boxes and we had to reduce them down to a single deep langstroth hive body. These were the frames that were left over with capped honey. The other frames we let the hives rob them and clean them. We didn't think we would even get honey yet, but having to reduce this hive gave us a bonus to start the year.
