MyPillow Guy Loses Defamation Lawsuit For The Funniest Reason Ever

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell has lost a defamation lawsuit that he filed against The Daily Mail earlier this year. The paper had claimed that Lindell had been romantically involved with a celebrity - a claim that was obviously false - but the judge still denied Lindell's claims that this was somehow defamatory to him. The judge had to point out that the story wasn't actually negative, and there was no damage at all suffered by Lindell because who wouldn't want to be linked to a celebrity? Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what happened.

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell has lost a major defamation lawsuit. But don't worry, don't get excited either. It's not the defamation lawsuit brought by the voting machine companies. This was a defamation lawsuit that Mike Lindell himself had filed against The Daily Mail. Huh? So what, what on earth could The Daily Mail have said that made Mike Lindell so angry that he ended up suing them for defaming his, uh, good name? Well, earlier this year, The Daily Mail reported. I'm sorry. This is so stupid. The Daily Mail reported that somehow Mike Lindell was romantically linked to Jane Krakowski. You know, the actress from 30 Rock and Lindell was so mad he said, oh hell no, I am clearly not dating Jane Krakowski. So I am suing you for defamation. And a couple days ago, the judge overseeing the case looked at this and he said, um, you're, you're done. I'm, I'm not, you're, I'm dismissing this lawsuit because this is absolutely idiotic. How in the world, Mike Lindell, is a newspaper claiming, falsely albeit, let's give him credit. They did lie about this.

How is a newspaper lying about you dating an attractive celebrity defamatory, right? How does that cause you any actual damage if the newspapers are like, oh my God, Mike Lindell's dating somebody attractive and famous? Oh, how horrible. The judge essentially had to mock Mike, because that's not defamatory at all. Is it false? Sure, it's false. We all know it's false. We all hope it's false. But is it defamatory? Like, does that actually cause damage to you or your reputation, which has to exist in order for a defamation lawsuit to move forward? The answer is no, the answer is absolutely unequivocally no. Right. If the newspapers came out and wrote a story about you, you our dear viewer dating a popular, attractive celebrity, male, female, doesn't matter. Are you gonna be like, oh, I'm so mad? You're gonna be like, nope, whatever. I'm not even gonna correct the record. Right. That is so stupid. It doesn't cause any harm to you or your reputation or your lifestyle or your livelihood, especially not when you're already a public figure.

Actually I could see how that would affect, you know, the rest of us if they ran a story about me dating somebody famous would probably cause, you know, some problems in my life, especially with my wife. But overall does it hurt my image? No. Does it hurt my potential for earning income in the future? No. And if you're lacking those two things, you do not have a viable defamation lawsuit. So Mike Lindell loses and he loses in hilarious fashion and he loses the way he always loses everything. 2021 has not been a very kind year to Mike Lindell. Sure it's made him a household name even more than his pillows did. But at the end of the day, the guy is facing financial ruin with these other defamation lawsuits. All of the other lawsuits he's filed this year have been tossed out, laughed out of course, in instances like this. The guy's got nothing and I have a feeling 2022 is going to be even worse for him than this year was.
