Powersaw fitted with Milwaukee Fuel 18

We tested the Milwaukee M18 FUEL today on the PowerSaw setup ⚡🪚
Initial thoughts — it has very similar torque to the 660, maybe just slightly less, but overall it performed surprisingly well 💪🌲
It looks ideal for: ✅ Softwoods
✅ Softer hardwoods
✅ Hobby milling
✅ Indoor use
✅ Low-noise environments
✅ Slab planing with a planer head fitted
The electric powerhead would suit indoor work exceptionally well, especially where noise, fumes, and simplicity matter.
The main limitation is battery life 🔋
From our testing, it looks like a set of batteries would produce around 130 board foot, so for a decent day’s production run, you’d likely want:
Multiple battery sets
At least one fast charger
Ideally additional batteries and a second fast charger for continuous workflow
That said, if you’re looking for serious production and want to cut large volumes of timber, the larger STIHL or Husqvarna petrol-powered chainsaw units remain the ideal option ⛽🌲
They offer longer sustained runtime, greater thermal reserve, and are better suited to heavier commercial milling and higher daily output.
All up, it’s a neat little system, and this electric powerhead really suits the hobbyist, farm, indoor, and light-production type user ⚙️🪵
A very interesting option for portable electric milling.
