This film "The Left of the Line" (1945) is a historical documentary focusing on the specific military contributions of the British, Canadian, and Polish forces during the liberation of France in 1944. It explains the strategic importance of the British and Canadian "hinge" at Caen, which drew the bulk of German tank strength away from American sectors to facilitate the overall Allied victory in Normandy. Produced by the Canadian Army Film Unit in conjunction with the British Ministry of Information.
