Hoist Slings

This short video has been designed to provide care workers with guidance on hoist slings.

In usual circumstances, if you are working in a role that requires to you assist and move people, you would be required to undertake comprehensive moving and handling training. During the Covid-19 outbreak, it is not possible to provide practical moving and handling training courses. To help you to understand how to use specific pieces of lifting and handling equipment during this time, we have put together a series of short films. Each film will explain appropriate use of the specified piece of equipment, and will demonstrate how to use the equipment safely.

These videos are not designed to replace practical training courses and when you are deployed to work in a care service you must receive additional practical skills training in this workplace to gain competence in using the moving and handling equipment for the specific clients in the care service that you are deployed to. As per your contract of employment, you must not undertake any duties (including moving and handling) that you do not feel safe and competent to undertake.
