STD Prevention Beyond Condoms
STD stands for Sexually Transmitted Diseases. These are infections that are passed through sexual behaviors with a person who has an STD through blood, semen or vaginal fluid.
Some ways to avoid STDs are not engaging in sexual interactions at all, getting tested for STDs regularly, and limiting the number of sexual partners you have. It is most common for folks who do engage in sexual intercourse to practice safer sex by using a latex barrier such as an external condom, internal condom or a dental dam. No matter what you choose, make sure you communicate clearly with your sexual partner.
