The Feurtado Brothers spoke with Sean Prez about their early childhood in Harlem but spending their formative years in Queens. They recounted the vibe of the era they were raised, highlighting how central family values were to their upbringing. Despite these values though, the Feurtado Brothers also noted that things were still difficult due to growing up in poverty.

They got involved with gangs around junior high (middle) school. They said the gangs formed in response to the racism they faced from white residents in Queens. The Feurtado Brothers also detailed how they weren't predisposed to violence prior to entering the streets.

The Feurtado Brothers also spoke at length about the value of family structure. They spoke about how their mother was "no nonsense" in her approach to parenting, considering that she was raising three boys coming of age. The Feurtado Brothers also recounted the first gang they joined while living in the suburbs.
