Businessmen First, Public Servants Later And They Won't Vote Against Their Own Illegal Operations

Moonlighting: Businessmen First, Public Servants Later - They Own the Illegal Properties They Pretend to Stand Against..

A glaring double standard defines Indian politics today: while corporate employees face termination for moonlighting due to conflict of interest clauses, our elected representatives operate as businessmen first and public servants second. The evidence is damning. In Goa, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo is linked to Nazri Resort - an illegal structure ordered for demolition by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority in 2018. Despite the National Green Tribunal dismissing appeals and the Supreme Court upholding the order in April 2024, the resort still stands and operates today.

Activist complaints allege deliberate inaction to shield powerful interests. These are the same people who publicly posture against illegal operations while privately protecting their own investments. When demolition drives target illegal resorts elsewhere, MLAs like Dinakar Shetty in Karnataka openly protest, declaring "We will not allow the resorts to be removed." They own the properties, they sit on committees that decide land laws, and they will never vote against themselves.

Meanwhile, only five elected representatives across India have refused salaries two MPs and two MLAs. The rest continue collecting taxpayer money while their illegal businesses thrive. They are businessmen first, public servants later and they won't vote against themselves.
