Design, Performance Analysis and Internal Sizing of Distillation Column in Aspen HYSYS | Lecture# 21
This lecture is focused on accomplishing four tasks related to the simulation of the distillation column in Aspen HYSYS:
Task # 1: Design a short-cut distillation column to provide initial estimates for rigorous distillation column
Task # 2: Design a rigorous distillation column (based on initial estimates provided)
Task # 3: Performance analysis of rigorous distillation column
Task # 4: Internal Sizing of the rigorous distillation column.
So, please do watch, like, and share the video, and provide feedback for improvement. In our next lecture, we will do the simulation of comparatively complex distillation systems i.e., pressure-swing distillation.
Problem Statement:
A feed mixture (liquid) consisting of 50 mole % propane and 50 mole % propylene is fed to the distillation column at 5 bar. The flowrate of the feed-stream is 1000 kg/h. The % of propane and propylene in the top and bottom product respectively, should not be more than 1 mole%, OR, the top product (liquid) should contain at-least 99 mole% pure propylene and the bottom product should contain at-least 99 mole% pure propane. The pressure in the condenser is 4.8 bar, and in the reboiler is 5 bar.
