Samskritam: Language of the Soul | Dr Sampadananda Mishra | #SangamTalks

Shri Sampadanand Mishr has shared his experience with Sanskrit through this talk. According to him, the scope of Sanskrit language is so vast that we can have endless talks about it. The topic of his talk is – “Sanskrit: A language of the soul (Aatma)”.
The aim of education can be explained in two words i.e. 'आत्मानं विद्धि', means ‘know your soul (aatma)’. If any education can’t connect us with our soul then it is not a true education. Our ancient Shastras never forget this connection. Doesn’t matter how technical they were, they always remained connected to this basic question of life. According to our Shastras technology and philosophy are inseparable.
Our great sages achieved this great truth of life and soul and the language that they wanted for the expression of this achievement also emanated me from this consciousness. No ordinal language is capable of expressing that achievement. Does that mean Sanskrit is the only mantric (capable) language? No, any language should be able to connect with the consciousness. It mainly depends on the person who uses it and how he/she uses it. Example - the language of modern sages like – Vivekananda and Shri Aurobindo.
Why Sanskrit seems difficult to understand? It is not a traditional, survival language. This is the language of consciousness. If you want to learn any language, not only reading but thinking, contemplation, philosophy is also necessary, do we do all of these? If you study Sanskrit with your feelings and soul, it will seem very simple. Its structure is extremely logical. Its design is related to consciousness.
Every word in Sanskrit has many synonyms. Every synonym has logical explanation. One can ask a question why every word is like this? For example - there are 30 words for water, 37 words for fire. As every word is based on some quality of the object, if there are 30 words for water, then in a way we are not only learning the words, but also learning about the 30 qualities of water. So, in a way we are not just learning the words, we are learning the whole science.
