Where to get the best views in Queenstown | South Island, New Zealand Vlog 1/5
In this first video of our South Island New Zealand road trip vlog, we touched down in Queenstown. Queenstown is arguably one of New Zealand's most well known and beautiful destinations. You're immediately treated to stunning and dramatic landscapes as soon as you arrive (or even before you touch down if you get a window seat on the plane!)
You're very much spoilt for choice when it comes to where to get the best views in Queenstown but for us we decided to soak in the magical views through horse riding as well as a hike up Queenstown Hill.
For our horse riding in Queenstown experience, we found Moonlight Stables which is located a very short drive away from Queenstown Airport. They're a fantastic family-owned horse trekking company with warm, friendly and experienced staff. We had such an awesome time at Moonlight Stables, meeting our horses and doing the Doonholme Farm Ride. They cater for all riding abilities from those completely new to riding through to experienced horse riders.
Moonlight Stables
Address: 69 Morven Ferry Road, Queenstown 9371
Hours: Mon–Sun 9:30am–4:30pm

NB: Bookings are best made over the phone: (+64) 03 442 1229
For another place to get amazing views in Queenstown, we hiked up Queenstown Hill. It was quite a tiring climb to reach Queenstown Hill Summit but very much worth it. We were treated to views of The Remarkables (an iconic mountain range) as well as beautiful Lake Wakatipu and picturesque snowcapped mountains.
For dinner we ate a Vietnamese restaurant in the town centre called Saigon Kingdom. They have 3 sizes available for their tasty pho which was the perfect meal after a fun-filled but tiring day in Queenstown! Also since it's in the town centre and near the waterfront it's a great location to enjoy a leisurely walk about too.
Saigon Kingdom Vietnamese Restaurant
Address: 88 Beach Street, Queenstown 9300
Hours: Fri–Sun 12–9pm
Mon–Thu 12–2:30pm, 5–8pm
For our car rental, we used https://www.nz.kayak.com/New-Zealand-Car-hire.177.crc.html to compare car rental prices. After finding the cheapest rate for our dates, we called up to ask for an even better price (often car rental places have wiggle room so it never hurts to ask!). We ended up with Snap Rentals who picked us up at the airport in a shuttle van, we then got our car and at the end of our South Island trip, returned it back to them and got a shuttle ride to the airport again.
