The Hope Diamond Curse. The Blue Diamond that Glows Red! Truth or Fiction?

The Hope Diamond is supposed to bear a curse, and bring misfortune to its owner, because it was stolen from its rightful owners in 1791. The stone originated from the Kollur Mine in northeast India, where it was mined in the mid 17th century. The stone has an unusually intense red glow after exposure to short-wave ultraviolet light, a kind of 'glow-in-the-dark' effect, that continues for a while after the light source has been turned off. This strange quality may have helped give the Blue Diamond its reputation of being cursed.
Since 1958, it now resides at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
