In questa puntata siamo stati accolti nel Museo della macchina da scrivere dal suo fondatore, Umberto Di Donato. Ascoltare i suoi racconti e aneddoti sulle macchine presenti nel museo è come farsi trascinare in tempi e luoghi lontani, tra macchine provenienti da tutto il mondo, dalle "veterane" Calligraph(1882), Williams(1891), Olympia(1907), alle più "recenti" Oliver(1916) e Remington(1935), la misteriosa macchina "Cinese"(1912)...persino una calcolatrice meccanica! Se poi vi avremo almeno un po' incuriosito forse un giorno di passaggio a Milano vi capiterà di visitarlo...E noi ve lo consigliamo, perché questo, ladies and gentlemen, è un Museo dove si tocca!

Errata Corrige:
Contrariamente a quanto affermato nel video, la Caligraph non fu inventata da C.L. Sholes ma da George Yost. Inizialmente Yost e Sholes erano infatti soci ma si separarono più tardi quando l'invenzione di Sholes, la macchina da scrivere Sholes & Glidden, detta anche Remington 1, entrò in produzione. In this video we meet Umberto di Donato, the founder of the Typewriter Museum in Milan. He has fascinating stories to tell, spanning space and time. We star with the Caligraph (1882), the Williams (1981) and enter the 20th century with the Olympia (1907), the Oliver (1916) and the Remington (1935). We will then hear about the Chinese Typewriter (1912) and even a mechanical calculator.
We hope the video will encourage you to visit the Museum. We strongly recommend it as this is, ladies and gentlemen, a museum where you are welcome to touch the exhibits!

InsolitiMusei wishes to thank also Mr Paul Robert (www.typewritermuseum.org) for pointing out some inaccuracies in the video. The Caligraph typewriter was not invented by C.L. Sholes, but by George Yost. Yost was an early partner of Sholes. They split up when Sholes' invention (the Sholes & Glidden typewriter, aka Remington 1) went into production. Yost wanted to develop better machines and invented the Caligraph and later the Yost typewriter.
