How to Fix No Heat on Audi Skoda Volkswagen Seat - Heater Control Valve Replacement
In this tutorial, we’ll replace the heater control valve on an Audi A4 B8, a quick and easy DIY repair that can save you up to $300 and takes less than 20 minutes.

If your Audi’s heating system only works occasionally or blows cold air, the heater control valve might be the cause.
This small valve regulates how much hot coolant flows through the heater core, and when it fails, you’ll get intermittent or no heat at all.
Not all cars have this valve — some use a different system that mixes warm and cold air with internal flaps — but many Audi, VW, and BMW models do.
In this video, we’ll show:
• How to locate the heater control valve (in the plenum chamber, under the cowl cover)
• How to disconnect the electrical connector and coolant hoses safely
• How to remove and install the valve using a 10mm socket
• How to refill and bleed the coolant system
• And how to test your heating system after replacement
💡 Pro Tip: Always do this job when the engine is cold to avoid coolant pressure buildup.
If your heater core is clogged with silica gel particles from the expansion tank, you can try flushing it — I’ve added that video in the description.
Also, check out the affordable OBD2 tester I use almost daily — it can scan your car for heating actuator faults and save you time and money.

🔧 Tools used:
• 10mm socket
• Hose clamp pliers
• Coolant (G12 or compatible)
• New heater control valve
Thanks for watching, and see you in the next video!
