African Giant Millipede Archispirostreptus

Gone are the days of ten dollar African Giant Black millipedes, known as AGB's. Archispirostreptus gigas was not just the largest millipede in the hobby, it is the largest in the world. And there was never a millipede more suited to being a pet or pet-worthy. They were gentle giants and veteran hobbyists miss the days of seeing them regularly available in pet stores and at reptile shows. But the little mites you see in the second clip of this video were found to be disruptive to agriculture here in the United States and so the species was banned from import. We remember those days fondly. This species was never a big reproducer in our tanks but some captive bred specimens still circulate in the US hobby in very low numbers. I myself reproduced them twice. The video tells more. Thank you for watching and know that I appreciate your comments and questions about any "bugs" topic!
