http://www.tedxeuston.com Wanuri Kahiu is Kenyan. In 2008, she completed her first feature film "From A Whisper" based on the real life events surrounding the August 7, twin bombings of US Embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam in 1998. The film won 5 awards at the Africa Movie Academy. In 2009 she wrote and directed a short Science Fiction Film"Pumzi" that had its international premiere at Sundance Film Festival. Wanuri is currently co-directing a documentary on 'JUST A BAND' a local geek-chic group and adapting 'Jambula Tree' a short story that won the Caine Prize in 2007 into a feature length script.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
