SMEG... IS IT WORTH IT?? Smeg toaster, coffee maker, kettle, coffee grinder

Toast is toast... Coffee is coffee... Does the appliance you use really matter when making these things? What element of the machine determines its value or cost? I recently purchased a SMEG tea kettle, coffee grinder, coffee maker, and toaster. The price was much higher than I traditionally pay for these small appliances which often times are tucked away to avoid counter clutter.
