How to FOIL and GOLD LEAF on resin and alcohol ink - What’s the best glue to use?

In this tutorial I’ll show you why I prefer gilding liquid (also known as size) to using normal glue and how you can use both real gold leaf, imitation leaf or transfer foils. Plus I show you an alternative to using gilding glue.

To adhere metal leaf to a surface an adhesive size is needed. This is known as a 'Gilding Size' or gilding mixition. There are many different types available and each has their own distinct properties. These include both water and oil-based versions. Water based versions dry quicker.

Sizes are applied with a brush and left to dry until the required amount of ‘tackiness’ is achieved before applying the leaf.

I tested 3 different types of adhesive and did a comparison with regular household glues.
