Introduction to SAR images | | UPV
Título: Introduction to SAR images
Descripción: Ruiz Fernández, Luis Ángel;
This video is an introduction of the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems in remote sensing: active microwave sensors, components and working principle of a Side Looking Airborne System (SLAR). Concepts and influence of the system wavelength and polarization, radiometry of SAR images. Brief description of Copernicus Sentinel-1 images.

Descripción automática: In this video Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems are introduced. The components and working principles of Side-Looking Airborne SAR systems are described, including the influence of wavelength and polarization on SAR images.
RADAR sensors use active microwave radiation to illuminate narrow strips on the ground, receiving back-scattered energy to determine location, electrical properties, and surface configuration of objects. The radar return is directly related to the wavelength at which it operates, with longer wavelengths able to penetrate deeper into surfaces.
The video also covers the Sentinel-1 mission from the Copernicus program, which provides SAR images with single or dual polarization at a spatial resolution of around 10m.
