Mexico is full of beautiful scenery and stunning beaches, but everyones version of paradise is a little different. From our experience so far, Isla Holbox is as close to paradise in Mexico as we've found and a lot more our style than the likes of Tulum or Cancun. Holbox Island is relatively small, a bit difficult to reach and has the risk of being over populated in the wrong seasons — but from our experience it all fell into place for the better. Holbox Island is approximately 41.84 kilometres (26.00 miles) long and 1.5 kilometres (0.9 miles) wide, so it's easy to explore the whole thing in a few days. The best way to do that is with a golf cart, which is honestly such a fun way to explore.

Mexico is so large there's likely hundreds of places that tick similar boxes to Holbox, many that we've kept notes of from your recommendations in comments and messages, but Holbox will forever be a special little paradise for us.
