The abolition of the Corn Laws was a triumph for the Anti-Corn Law League. A response in part to the pressure from the League and in part to the famine in Ireland, the abolition of the Corn Law was also seen as a triumph over the vested interests of Britain's agricultural elites and their grip on Parliament.
