Making a Primitive Yucca Hammock - The only one that exists? (Season 2, episode 7)
For thousands of years people of primitive cultures made hammocks for sleeping. In Mexico sisal was used to make Maya hammocks. The benefits of a hammock is that they can be used in small spaces, they are above the ground and keep people safe from insects, scorpions and snakes, they are ideal in hot climates, and they can easily be stored or carried.
In this video I show a traditional technique used by the Maya to weave a hammock but instead of sisal I use yucca cordage that I harvested and rolled myself. Enjoy the ASMR effect of this video along with the beautiful scenery and maybe one day you will make your own hammock too.
