Children and adolescents with moderate to severe problems may respond to different situations in ways that they do not understand and often can’t control. Emotions can be extremely powerful, often overwhelming, and therefore difficult to control. These emotions are usually expressed through the child’s behaviour which over time can have an impact on emotional, cognitive or social development.

The child & adolescent psychotherapist focus is on the complex emotional life of the child and support can also be given to the families at home. It is a psychoanalytical approach that seeks to look under the surface to find the root of the problems the child or adolescent is facing.

Dr Peter Slater is a psychoanalytical/integrative psychotherapist who is an accredited member of the BACP. He works with individuals and couples who present with a wide range of presentations including depression, anxiety, personality disorders, eating disorders, and more.

He is also a highly specialist child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapist who has worked for 15 years in NHS settings and works with parents and infants, young children, adolescents, parents and families.
