Salona was an ancient city and the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. The name Salona preserves the language of the early inhabitants of this area whom the Romans called the Dalmatae, considered to be part of a larger group called the Illyrians. Salona (or Salon) is situated in today's town of Solin, in modern-day Croatia. Solin, is a small town located 5 kilometres from Split. It is well known as the cradle of ancient Croatian history. A town that hides a rich cultural and natural heritage which makes it a very interesting destination.
