"Barri and The Six" (Full Documentary)

On September 1, 2019, The “Thomas Family” along with the residents of McLeans Town, East End Grand Bahama, were directly in the path of Hurricane Dorian: The strongest storm to ever reach landfall in the Atlantic ocean. With wind gusts over 200MPH and a storm surge of 23 feet, it hovered over McLeans Town for nearly 48 hours, creating absolute devastation.

After surviving three nights at the mercy of the ocean, Barri Thomas was airlifted to Princess Margret Hospital in Nassau on September 4th, 2019. Her husband Philip (Pj) Thomas and three children were never to be seen again.

Like many other Bahamians who lost loved ones, her family is considered “missing.” Bahamian law requires a person to be missing for seven years before a death certificate can be issued. As government officials promise to shorten this time, the reality is they have failed. Barri must hire an attorney and petition the courts, to get what is rightfully hers; her family’s death certificates.

This story is about Barri rebuilding her life and helping to rebuild the town she and her husband, Captain Phillip Thomas Jr. so dearly loved. Please share this to help pressure the government and insurance companies to not only recognize, but address the unreasonable requirement that life insurance premiums be paid for 7 years when it's obvious a death occurred, on the insured "missing."

We are accepting donations on our website which 100% of the proceeds will go towards Barri and McLeans Town.
